3D and 5D bends refer to the radius of curvature of a pipe bend. A 3D bend has a radius of curvature equal to three times the pipe diameter, while a 5D bend has a radius of curvature equal to five times the pipe diameter. These bends are used to change the direction of the pipeline while maintaining the flow characteristics.
