Product Description
One of the most critical parts of an engine is the head gasket set. Because it is directly involved in the connection between the engine block and cylinder heads, its function is critical to the proper operation of the engine. Generally speaking, head gasket set refers to a composition of gaskets and seals, such as cylinder head gasket, In./Ex. manifold gaskets, valve cover gasket sets, camshaft oil seals, valve stem seals, o-rings, miscellaneous packing/gaskets and so on. It sits between the engine block and cylinder head(s) in the internal combustion engine. It is used to seal the cylinders to ensure maximum compression and avoid leakage of coolant or engine oil into the cylinders. The quality of head gasket set, together with related parts, plays an important role to guarantee the performance as well as function of the modern engines.
A graphite cylinder head gasket is created by mechanically clinching an expanded graphite sheet to both sides of a perforated-steel carrier. The features and benefits of a graphite cylinder head gasket include:
1. Effectively seals fluids
2. Graphite provides thermal stability, low creep relaxation and chemical resistance
3. Compresses and conforms to accommodate rougher surface finishes
The steel elastomer gasket also known as S/E is a solid steel carrier with elastomeric beads chemically bonded to the edges and/or surfaces of the carrier. The features and benefits of a multi-layer steel (MLS) cylinder head gasket include:
1. Steel body provides control of compressed gasket thickness.
2. Carrier maintains joint stability by resisting thermal and mechanical stresses.
3. Single gasket can contain multiple elastomeric compounds for localized sealing requirements.
4. Controlled stress and strain increase life of the fluid seals.
5. Engineered combustion and fluid seal creates efficient load balance across the gasket.
