processless CTP plates are made up of an aluminum base that is coated with a photosensitive material. Exposure to UV light through a film negative or digital file causes a chemical reaction in the photosensitive layer, making the exposed areas receptive to ink while the unexposed areas remain hydrophilic and repel ink.
When printing, ink is applied directly onto the plate, which is mounted onto the press. The ink adheres to the exposed areas, while the non-image areas remain free of ink. This process eliminates the need for chemical processing, making processless CTP plates a sustainable option that reduces the environmental impact of the printing process.
