Temperature sensitivity and color development principle
Thermal paper is named for its sensitivity to temperature. Its surface is covered with a special heat-sensitive coating that contains a leuco dye and an acidic substance. When the coating is exposed to a specific temperature, the leuco dye and the acidic substance will react chemically, causing the color to change from colorless to black or other colors. This change is permanent and cannot be reversed.
Thermal Paper has a wide range of applications in Banking and Financial Services, Shipping and Logistics, Medical and Healthcare, like label, fax paper, ATM paper, receipt paper, cash register paper etc. Thermal Paper is used to print amusement centre tickets or tags, cinema or movie tickets, play tickets, etc. due to the advantage of the printed image being easily scanned and clear.
