The terracotta ventilated support system for 18mm panels is a building enclosure system that uses 18mm thick terracotta panels as the exterior finish, combined with a metal support frame and ventilation cavity. The system achieves air circulation through open joints or ventilators, combining both decorative and functional properties, and is a common form of modern facade.

System Composition

18mm terracotta panel,made of natural clay fired at high temperature, thickness 18mm (both strength and lightness)

Main rails: usually made of aluminum alloy (6063-T5/T6) or hot-dip galvanized steel, arranged vertically, bear the main load

Secondary rails: horizontal aluminum alloy component, forming a grid frame with the main rail

Connector:Stainless steel pendant (such as SE type, back bolt type) and seismic sliding support (allowing ±15mm displacement)

Features:

Strong points: Terracotta panels are UV-resistant, acid-resistant, and have good color stability. They are not easy to fade after long-term use.18mm thickness panel provides high impact and wind pressure resistance, suitable for harsh climate areas.The ventilation cavity forms a "chimney effect", which promotes the discharge of hot air in summer and reduces the building's cooling load; in winter, it can be combined with an insulation layer to reduce the risk of condensation.

Open-style system design avoids water accumulation and reduces mildew growth; maintenance costs is relatively low .

Weak points:

The depth of the ventilation cavity (usually 100-300mm), drainage path and seismic joints need to be accurately calculated, otherwise the performance may be affected.Open joints need to control the width (usually 5-10mm) to prevent wind and rain penetration, and additional waterproof lining may be required.
