PCD tool can be used for machining under extremely high spindle speed, but the influence of cutting speed on machining quality cannot be ignored. Although the high speed cutting can improve the machining efficiency, but in the high speed cutting state, the increase of cutting temperature and cutting force can make the tool tip damage, and make the machine vibration. When processing different workpiece materials, the reasonable cutting speed of PCD tool is also different, such as the reasonable cutting speed of milling Al2O3 laminate floor is 110~120m/min; The reasonable cutting speed for turning SiC particle reinforced aluminum matrix composites and silica matrix engineering ceramics is 30~40m/min.
Fold the feed
If the PCD cutter feed is too large, the residual geometric area on the workpiece will increase, resulting in an increase in surface roughness; If the feed is too small, the cutting temperature will rise and the cutting life will be reduced.
Folding cutting depth
Increasing the cutting depth of the PCD tool will increase the cutting force and the cutting heat, which will aggravate the tool wear and affect the tool life. In addition, the increase of cutting depth is easy to cause PCD tool breakage.
Different granularity of PCD cutting tools in different processing conditions processing different workpiece materials, the performance of the cutting performance is not the same, so we should determine the actual cutting parameters of PCD cutting tools according to the specific processing conditions.

The selection of PCD particle size and tool processing conditions, such as designed for finishing or super finishing tools, should choose high strength, good toughness, good impact resistance, fine grain PCD. Coarse grain PCD tool can be used for general rough processing. The particle size of PCD material has significant influence on the tool wear and damage performance. The research shows that the larger the size of PCD, the stronger the abrasion resistance of the tool. PCD particle size has sub-micron, 2μm, 5μm, 10μm, 25μm and 2~30μm, the CDW010 material of 10μm particle size is general type, anti-collapse blade type and wear resistance are good, generally, the larger the particle size, the blade material is more resistant to wear, and the mixed particle size of 2~30μm CDW302 material has better wear resistance. As shown in the figure, it is the comparison of the crushing edge resistance and wear resistance of different PCD particle sizes, as well as the comparison of discharge characteristics and grindability.
The high hardness of PCD makes its material removal rate very low (even only one millionth of hard alloy removal rate). At present, the grinding process of PCD tool mainly adopts ceramic bonded diamond wheel. Because the grinding between grinding wheel abrasive and PCD is the interaction between two kinds of materials with similar hardness, the grinding law is quite complicated. For high granularity and low speed grinding wheels, the water-soluble coolant can improve the grinding efficiency and precision of PCD. The choice of grinding wheel bond depends on the type of grinding machine and processing conditions. Because EDG technology is almost not affected by the hardness of the workpiece, it has great advantage to use EDG technology to grind PCD. Some complex shape PCD cutting tools (such as woodworking tools) also have a great demand for this flexible grinding process. With the development of EDG grinding technology, EDG technology will become a main development direction of PCD grinding.
