Place the U-bolt around the pole or pipe. The threads should point toward the object being fastened.

Place a washer on each of the threaded U-bolt ends. Place a bolt on each threaded end.
Turn the first bolt by hand in a clockwise direction until snug. Repeat this with the second bolt.
Tighten the bolts with the wrench. Follow the manufacturer's recommendation pertaining to the amount of torque required.
