2. Equipment Description:
The test set is mainly for cable, main transformer neutral point, GIS, switches whose rated voltage not more than 110kv and other AC high voltage withstand test. The test set consists of variable frequency power supply, excitation transformers, reactors, capacitive voltage divider.
Compared with power frequency HIPOT test set, The advantages of Variable Frequency Series Resonance Test Set in power system application are as follow:
The required power capacity is greatly reduced. The system generates high voltage on the resonant reactor and the capacitance of tested object based on system resonance. The power consumption of the power source is 1 / Q of test capacity only. The Q value will be more than 10 when testing.
The weight and size of the device is greatly reduced. It not only eliminates the need for bulky voltage regulating device and an ordinary power frequency test transformer, but also resonant excitation power only need the 1 / Q test capacity, making the weight and size of system significantly reduced.
To improve the waveform of output voltage. The resonance is effective to the sine wave whose frequency is in the resonance frequency only. The harmonic wave will be eliminated by the resonance effective. it can prevents the harmonic peak value breakdown on the specimen by mistake.
Prevent high short-circuit current to damage the fault point. In the series resonance condition, the circuit will be off the resonant point immediately when the insulated weakness of the test specimen is breakdown; the circuit current will be declined to the 1 / Q of the normal test current automatically in very short time. While the current will be dozen times of test current while use power frequency HIPOT test if there is breakdown in the specimen. Therefore, Frequency Adjustable Series Resonance can effectively found the insulated vulnerability while reduce the loss when there is breakdown in fault point.
It does not appear any recovery over voltage when the test specimen was breakdown. High voltage disappears immediately and the arc extinguishes immediately when the system loss resonance condition. The re-establishment of the recovery voltage process is very long, it is easy to switch off the power by the test set before reaching flashover voltage again.
