The drilling equipment swivel refers to a device used to control the pressure in the hole during drilling work. It is one of the indispensable and important tools in drilling and well repair operations. It is suspended directly below the mobile well section and directly above the kelly driver. It enables the kelly (and subsequently the drill string) to rotate while allowing the mobile well section to maintain a stationary rotational position (but allowing vertical movement up and down the derrick) and allowing the drilling fluid to be introduced into the drill string.

1. In-hole pressure control: As a device for controlling the pressure in the hole, the swivel needs to control the pressure in the hole through a sealing device and a control mechanism during its working process. When the pressure needs to be released, the sealing device is opened through the control mechanism to release the pressure in the hole.
2. Drill pipe connection: The swivel is usually connected to the drill pipe through a drill pipe connection device to ensure that the connection between the swivel and the drill pipe is firm and reliable. This connection method can not only realize the function of transmitting pressure, but also ensure the safe operation of the drill pipe during the drilling process.
3. Sealing performance: The swivel needs to have good sealing performance during the working process to ensure accurate control of the pressure in the hole and prevent leakage. Common sealing devices include O-type sealing rings, sealing waist rings, etc.
According to different designs and functions, drilling equipment swivel can be divided into the following categories:
1. Manual swivel: manual operation is required to control the release and control of the pressure in the hole.
2. Hydraulic swivel: the pressure in the hole is controlled by the hydraulic system, and automatic control can be achieved.
3. Electric swivel: the pressure in the hole is controlled by the motor through gear transmission.
4. Pneumatic swivel: the pressure in the hole is controlled by the pneumatic system, which is usually used in special working occasions.
