When an alternating current passes through the primary windings of a transformer, it generates an alternating magnetic field around the windings. According to Ampere's law, the current produces a magnetic field, and since the current is alternating, the magnetic field also varies periodically from time to time.
--Role of the iron core
The EI19 Low Frequency Driver Transformer utilizes an EI-type core, which consists of E-type and I-type silicon steel sheets laminated together. Silicon steel sheet has high permeability, can concentrate and guide the magnetic field, so that the magnetic field almost all through the core to form a closed magnetic circuit. This not only enhances the strength of the magnetic field, but also dramatically reduces magnetic leakage and improves the efficiency of electromagnetic conversion. The alternating magnetic field is conducted in the core and passes through the secondary winding.
--Secondary winding induced voltage
According to Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction, the alternating magnetic field passing through the secondary winding generates an induced electromotive force in the secondary winding. The magnitude of the EMF is proportional to the rate of change of magnetic flux through the winding. Since the magnetic field is alternating, the flux is constantly changing, resulting in a constant induced voltage in the secondary winding.
