Description of Cognex IS5603-11

IS5603-11 is a high resolution vision system designed for the Insight 5000 series by Cognex. As a high resolution system, this unit is best equipped to monitor large machinery or product lines for small damages or errors. PatMax system capabilities are integrated into this model. PatMax provides an advanced geometric pattern technology that can precisely identify production parts without user intervention. Images are captured with this camera at a rate of 16 frames per second. All images are produced in a 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution with the 256 MB of available photo processing memory. Additional space is available with 128 MB of flash memory for jobs or program storage.

The high resolution vision system of IS5603-11 is highlighted by the system’s 20 times speed rating. With exapnded ID and tool sets available, this device allows the user to customize the entire system. These expanded capabilities include features like barcode verification, text recognition, and image filters. Two networking ports provide communication connections to the device. A high speed Ethernet and a 10/100/1000 BaseT protocol are the provided networking spots. Additionally, a serial I/O connection is available using an RS232C connection.

Following manufacturer provided installation parameters will prevent any unnecessary damages to the device. Since IS5603-11 is temperature sensitive, maintaining the device in a controlled climate is highly recommended. Temperatures while the system is operating can range from 32℉ to 113℉, or 0℃ to 45℃. Storage temperatures should also be taken into consideration as these can affect the mechanisms, even when powered off. These temperatures can safely range as low as -22℉, or -30℃, and as high as 176℉, or 80℃. The device datasheet and user manual will contain a complete installation and storage guide.
