The CompactLogix modular controller with part number 1769-L32E is a Programmable automation controller (PAC) manufactured by Allen-Bradley. The controller is commonly used in machine control and medium process applications. The controller has an integrated RS232 and an Ethernet communication port.
The default configuration of the RS232 interface is DF1 full duplex, 19.2 Kbps, no parity, station address 0, no handshake, BCC error detection, automatic detection of embedded response, 8 data bits, and 1 stop bit. This default configuration can be manually configured to establish initial communication with the device. If used with RSLinx-, autoconfiguration can be used to automatically detect communication Settings. The RS232 port can also be configured as an ASCII protocol interface to connect barcode instruments, which are commonly used in manufacturing processes.
Ethernet communication requires initial configuration, which can be done by using BOOTP-DHCP or downloading through the RS232 interface. By using BOOTP-DHCP, an Ethernet cable is required to connect the controller to the BOOTP host.
The Allen-Bradley 1769-L32E compact Logix controller comes in a unique, compact and cost-effective package. It has integrated one (1) Ethernet and one (1) serial communication port. It can be connected to the device via a 1747-CP3 or 1756-CP3 cable or an Ethernet cable. It has a 750 KB integrated user memory and can be expanded with CompactFlash cards, model number 1784-CF128.
The 1769-L32E has a replaceable battery with the corresponding part number 1769-BA. The controller supports the installation of up to sixteen (16) compact I/O modules with up to three 1/O groups connected via two expansion cables. The 1769-L32E has a (5 volt)DC current of 850 mA and a heat dissipation of up to 6.5 Watts. The 1769-L32E can be easily installed using DIN mounting or panel mounting methods. The DIN bracket has an operating impact rating of 30 G and a non-operating impact rating of 50 G, while the panel has an impact rating of 30 G in operating mode and 50 G in non-operating mode.
The 1769-L32E controller has a vibration rating of 5 G in operating mode. It can withstand mounting torque forces of 1.1 to 1.8 N-m. The 1769-L32E has an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit), a storage temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (-40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit), and a non-condensing relative humidity range of 0 to 95%. The Logix controller has a set of certified emissions (CISPA11) rating and has a unique open housing. The recommended line size for stranded lines is between 22 and 16 AWG, while solid lines should be rated between 22 and 14 AWG. The module weighs about 2 pounds when shipped and measures 8x8x 5 inches.
The CompactLogix 1769 series serves as a migration platform for the legacy Allen Bradley PLC series, PLC5 and SLC500. A variety of CompactLogix 1769 products, including the 1769-L32E, ensure that previous processor capabilities are maintained and enhanced.
The 1769-L32E processor can fit up to sixteen (16) compact I/O modules. It also supports extensions by adding up to three (3) /O extension libraries. The controller has an integrated memory of 750 kilobytes and can be coupled to non-volatile memory by installing a 1784-CF64 or 1784-CF128 CompactFlash card. The controller uses 1769-BA to reserve user memory. Avoid full battery discharge, as this may wipe out user memory, including user programs. Use non-volatile memory to prevent such events.
