1. Super strong structural bearing capacity:
 
Heavy-duty box-type structure: The end beam body is welded into a solid box-type structure with thicker high-strength steel plates (such as S355JR or higher grades), and the internal reinforced rib layout usually ensures extremely high bending, torsion and compressive strength under 16-ton rated load and dynamic load and eccentric load conditions.
 
Optimized stress distribution: The design has undergone precise finite element analysis, and key parts (such as the connection with the main beam, the drive unit mounting seat, and the wheel axle seat) are specially strengthened to avoid stress concentration.
 
2. High-performance "three-in-one" drive unit:
 
More power and torque: The power of the drive motor is significantly increased (multi-stage motors or higher efficiency designs may be used) to meet the needs of frequent starting, stopping and acceleration under 16-ton loads. The reducer specifications are greatly improved, using larger size and higher load-bearing capacity hardened helical gear or planetary gear reducers
 
Dual brake protection (usually standard): This is a key safety requirement for the 16-ton level! In addition to the main working disc brake integrated in the reduction gearbox, an auxiliary safety brake (usually electromagnetic disc or fail-safe type) is usually added to the tail of the motor or the high-speed shaft. Dual brakes provide redundant protection. Even if one fails, the other can stop safely, meeting higher safety levels (such as SIL2).
High reliability design: The "three-in-one" unit has better sealing and adapts to harsh industrial environments. Key components such as bearings and gears are designed and manufactured for heavy loads and long life.
 
3. Multi-wheel heavy-duty wheel set (dispersing huge wheel pressure):
 
Increased number of wheels: No longer single or double wheels! In order to effectively disperse the huge wheel pressure (vertical load) to the track and prevent the track from deforming or crushing, the 16-ton European end beam generally adopts a four-wheel or even eight-wheel design (that is, each side of the end beam has 2 or 4 wheels).
 
Wheel material and process upgrade: The wheels are made of higher-grade alloy forged steel (such as 34CrNiMo6, 42CrMo4), and are deep quenched + tempered. The surface hardness is extremely high (HRC 55-60), and it has excellent wear resistance, fatigue resistance and impact resistance.
Heavy-duty bearing unit: Use large-size, high-load-carrying capacity tapered roller bearings or spherical roller bearings (no longer mainly deep groove ball bearings), with precise preload adjustment, lifetime lubrication and sealing, and withstand huge radial and axial loads.
 
Balance beam structure (multi-wheel): In four-wheel or eight-wheel designs, a balance beam structure is often used to connect the wheels. The balance beam can automatically adjust the load distribution of each wheel to ensure that all wheels can effectively contact the track even if the track is slightly uneven, avoiding individual wheels from being suspended or overloaded.
 
4. Strengthen the horizontal guide and anti-skew system:
 
Heavy-duty horizontal guide wheels (horizontal wheels): The number and size are increased, and high-strength materials (bearing steel or alloy steel) and heavy-duty bearings are used. The guiding force design is larger to ensure strong resistance to deflection and rail gnawing when starting, braking or subjected to lateral forces under a load of 16 tons.
Anti-deflection design: The overall rigidity of the end beam is strong, and the synchronous control of the drive unit (especially when frequency conversion control) is highly accurate, combined with a powerful horizontal wheel, to jointly suppress the "twisting" phenomenon during crane operation.
