Lab grown diamonds are also named lab created diamonds, man made diamonds and synthetic diamonds. There are two main methods to create lab grown diamonds: CVD and HPHT.
Chemical Vapor Deposition is a growth method for cultivating diamonds. CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) diamonds are based on diamond seeds. With the aid of high-purity methane, hydrogen, nitrogen and other gases, the carbon molecules in methane and diamonds are continuously accumulated on the original diamonds in a microwave oven under high pressure. After layer-by-layer diffusion, transparent diamonds can be formed. The quality of this lab grown diamond is almost the same as natural diamonds. CVD diamond is a high-tech synthetic diamond whose material is mainly carbon, just like natural diamond. Its hardness, density, thermal conductivity, brightness, sparkle and fire color are almost the same as natural diamonds
There is also HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) method. HPHT was applied to gem-grade cultivated diamonds earlier, and HPHT cultivated diamonds appeared in the jewelry market as early as 2010. HPHT diamonds usually have high color while CVD diamonds usually have high clarity.
