The VX 9000 Virtualized Controller is a software-based WLAN controller designed to operate as a virtual machine (VM) on various hypervisors and Amazon EC2 cloud infrastructures. It supports virtually any server and commercial hypervisors, enabling seamless integration into existing network environments without additional hardware. The system requires a software license for activation and supports scalable AP license packs to meet diverse deployment needs.
The VX 9000 leverages WiNG OS for centralized wireless management, supporting standards such as 802.11ac/n/a/b/g. It operates as a virtual appliance under hypervisors like VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Citrix XenServer.
The controller is deployed as a virtual machine image (.iso). After installation on a supported hypervisor, it boots and prompts for initial configuration, including network settings and license activation. It centralizes the management of adaptive APs, handling configuration, roaming, security, and QoS policies.
