Product Description:
Specially engineered acrylic fiber designed for high-quality filling applications. Available in 25mm to 51mm staple lengths with semi-dull luster, this textile-grade fiber delivers exceptional loftiness, resilience, and durability for various padding needs.
Reduces Petroleum Dependency: It decreases the reliance on virgin fossil fuels (petroleum and natural gas) as the raw material.
Diverts Waste from Landfills: It gives a new purpose to textile waste that would otherwise be thrown away.
Lower Environmental Impact: The production of recycled fiber generally requires less energy and water and generates fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to manufacturing virgin acrylic fiber.
Not a Perfect Solution: It is still a plastic-based (petroleum-based) material. It will shed microplastics when washed, like other synthetic fabrics.
Downcycling: The mechanical recycling process can shorten the polymer chains, potentially leading to a lower-quality fiber that might be less durable than its virgin counterpart. It is often blended with virgin fiber to maintain quality.
End-of-Life: It is not biodegradable. While recycling is a great step, a truly circular economy for acrylic is challenging.
