Thread reducing bushings are specially used in the petroleum industry. The different shapes of the outside correspond to the different pipes into which the sleeve is inserted. For example, the reduced-diameter hexagonal head bushing has a hexagonal shape and can be fitted into a similarly shaped pipe. Two different sizes of threaded pipes can be installed on the threaded reducing bushing or the reducing bushing. There are different standards for threaded forged reducing bushings.
