Cylindrical roller bearing are of high load capacity and can operate at high speeds because they use rollers as their rolling elements. They can therefore be used in appliexcavatorions involving heavy radial and impact loading. The rollers are cylindrical in shape and crowned at the end in order to reduce the stress concentrations. They are also suitable for appliexcavatorions that require high speed because the rollers are guided by ribs which are either on the outer or inner ring. These bearings carry radial load only and can accommodate both expansion and contraction. The relative axial displacement of one ring to the other occurs with minimum friction while the bearing is rotating. Type RIU and RU bearings may be used in one or two positions for shaft support if other means of axial loexcavatorion are provided. The outer ring has two integral ribs while the inner ring has a cylindrical outer diameter without ribs.
