800 Incoloy is a type of nickel-based alloy that is highly resistant to corrosion and oxidation. It has a wide range of industrial applications, particularly in the chemical processing industry, as it can withstand extreme temperatures, pressures, and corrosive environments. This article will discuss the chemical composition of Incoloy 800, its properties, and how it can be used in different situations.
Alloy 800 consists primarily of iron (76%), nickel (32%), chromium (21%), manganese (1.5%), silicon (1.5%), and carbon (0.15%). Additionally, it also contains trace amounts of aluminum, cobalt, copper, molybdenum, sulfur, and titanium. This combination of elements gives Incoloy 800 excellent resistance to oxidation at high temperatures up to 1120°F (600°C). The alloy also demonstrates good strength and toughness even at cryogenic temperatures down to -320°F (-195°C).
