OEM high precision manufacturing of metal stainless steel 304 machining CNC parts
Stainless steel is considered a great material for a wide range of applications that are manufactured by CNC machining, because of its exceptional formability and marvelous consistency. This material also has fine malleability and weldability with can correspond to your assembling requirements. Stainless steel also offers superb ductility that will meet the specific needs of a certain project.
Properties of 304 stainless steel
Corrosion Resistance
One of the primary advantages of 304 stainless steel is it will resist corrosion. It is resistant to many forms of corrosion, including corrosion from exposure to saltwater, making it a popular choice for marine applications. Additionally, it is resistant to most acids and bases, making it suitable for food processing and medical device manufacturing.
| Weldability
304 stainless steel is also the most accessible stainless steel to weld, making it a good choice for applications where weldable stainless steel is required. It can be welded using most standard welding methods, including MIG (inert metal gas) and TIG (inert tungsten gas) welding.
|
Machinability
While 304 stainless steel sheets are generally considered a relatively easy material to machine, they can still be challenging due to their high strength and work-hardening properties. CNC stainless steel machining allows for precise cutting process control, which can help minimize tool wear and improve the overall machining efficiency.
|
Thermal Conductivity
304 stainless steel has a relatively low thermal conductivity, meaning that it does not conduct heat as well as other materials. This can be beneficial in applications where heat dissipation is a concern, such as in the manufacture of hot water systems or in applications where the material will be exposed to high temperatures.
|
Grade Availability:Some stainless steel grades are made on order and not available on demand. Ensuring your desired stainless steel grade is available is important especially where you have time concerns.
Heat Treatment:Impacts on the hardness of your stainless steel and thus overall mechanical properties. However, austenitic steel grades are not su bject to heat treatment.
Magnetism:Some applications may require magnetic properties which you will find absent in austenitic stainless steel grades.
Strength:the tensile strength vary depending on individual elements in the stainless steel material.
Finishes and Post-Processing Options
As machined (standard) |
This standard finish is the most basic and economical CNC finish, often used in applications where the surface won’t be visible, and appearance isn’t a priority.
|
Anodizing |
Anodizing creates a protective oxidation layer on the surface of a part, usually through electrochemical processes. Anodized CNC machined parts can be dyed in different colors. This finish is often used for stainless steel parts that will be exposed to an outdoor environment, as the oxidation layer helps protect them from rust and corrosion.
|
Powder coating |
Powder coating creates an excellent and robust surface finish. Stainless steel is corrosion resistant to a wide array of chemicals, but some, like chlorides, still pose a challenge. Powder coating can be used to improve its anti-corrosion properties in these situations.
