Dental needle tubes used in medical applications are highly technologically advanced, precision stainless steel tubes that are "extremely thin, ultra-fine, extremely smooth, and absolutely safe." Their core requirements are safety, precision, and painlessness. In addition to dental needles, similarly standard precision tubes are widely used in a variety of medical applications, including biopsy needles, indwelling catheters, and surgical instruments.
The outer and inner diameters must be strictly controlled, typically with tolerances at the micron level. This ensures a perfect fit between the needle and the syringe and smooth delivery of medication.
The wall thickness is extremely thin, minimizing the overall diameter of the needle to minimize pain during puncture while maintaining strength.
Bright annealing is required to achieve a glossy finish. The inner wall must be mirror-smooth. Any slight roughness or imperfection increases resistance to the injection and may even cause blockage or contamination. The outer wall also requires a high degree of smoothness to minimize friction and damage to skin tissue during puncture, ensuring a painless injection.
The needle tubing must be sufficiently strong and flexible to prevent bending or breaking during puncture, thereby avoiding brittle fracture.
High-grade austenitic stainless steel, such as 316L or 304VM, that meets medical standards must be used. These materials offer excellent corrosion resistance and are non-reactive with body fluids or medications.

Stainless steel capillary tubes are made from high-quality stainless steel that contains chromium and nickel. The most commonly used grades of stainless steel for capillary tubes are 304 and 316.
These grades are known for their excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and durability. They also have good heat resistance and can withstand high temperatures without losing their structural integrity.

General Dental Anesthesia
