Rubber Air Springs used in Bus Suspensions
A rubber air spring is a sealed airbag made of high-strength rubber cord and high-quality rubber. It is filled with compressed air, leveraging the compressibility of air to achieve its elastic action. It typically includes components such as an upper cover, a piston (lower base), and an air connection.
Basic operating principle: When a vehicle travels over an uneven surface, the impact force causes the piston to move upward, compressing the air within the airbag. This compressed air increases its pressure, absorbing and storing energy (acting as a cushion). When the impact force subsides, the compressed air expands, pushing the piston back down and releasing the energy. This process effectively isolates and attenuates vibration and impact from the road.
